Dear Dan,

Yes, the boxes are the model domains, and yes, the smaller domain is nested on the the larger domain. The Data Assimilation is working only in the larger domain. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me directly in my email ivan@atlantech.com.br

Best,

Re: How to correct HYCOM SSH before using it as OBCs in ROMS

Dear Patrick, thank you for replying.

I actually got an answer from Michael McDonald in the Hycom forum. He point me to the link https://www.hycom.org/dataserver/gofs-3pt1/reanalysis where I was able to download the long term mean SSH in NetCDF format.

Best Regard,

Ivan

Re: I want to use HYCOM GLB v0.08 as the initial / boundary data of ROMS.

Dear Eiki, this is what I do: In the hycom.org website, on the left side menu, bellow Data Server, select GOFS3.1 then, select ACCESS DATA HERE then, GLBv0.08/expt_53.X (Jan-01-1994 to Dec-30-2015) then, (2005) Reanalysis Data: 2005 to 2005 (3-hrly) then, NetcdfSubset: //ncss.hycom.org/thredds/ncss ...

Dear , the error code 400 in your message means the server didnt find what you are requesting. The 400 Bad Request Error is an HTTP response status code indicating that the server was unable to process the request sent by the client due to invalid syntax. I don't use python and matlab to download ...

Dear s19364,

there are two sets of HYCOM GLBv 0.08 expt 53.x, one has ice and the other doesn't . The set which has ice doesn't have SSH. Make sure you are using the correct one.

How to correct HYCOM SSH before using it as OBCs in ROMS

Dear forum and ROMS users, I am working on the implementation of Ensemble Optimal Interpolation (ENOI) in a regional domain of ROMS in the North Pacific Ocean (see figure) . I am using 6-hourly Hycom GLBy 0.08 T/S/U/V/SSH in the open boundaries of my ROMS regional grid. I am using the Chapman ...

Dear Robertson,

Thank You for the reply. It is the number of Threads that determine the virtual components, right ?

well, thanks a lot.

ROMS compilation in multi processed environment

Dear all, I am running Linux Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS in a multi-processed PC with 2 sockets, 2 Thread(s) per core and 22 cores per socket (see specs below). In theory I should be able to use 88 cores to run ROMS but it is not happening. I tried different configurations of tiles. I tried ntiles_i = 2 and ...

Re: Nudging time scales working on bry or clim

Very helpful discussion. Can I add one question ? Following your strategy of using a strong lateral nudging and weak nudging to climatology, if I decide to use a netcdf file to provide the nudging coefficients to the model, what would be the values in this file ? I am trying to use 1 day at the ...

Lateral nudging and nudging to climatology

Dear all, I am a little confused about nudging. I am sure this subject has already been discussed in the forum but I just can’t find a post that addresses the parameters that control lateral nudging and the ones that control nudging to climatology. I am using ROMS version 839, which I have updated o ...

Hi Ivica, Thanks a lot for the hints. I guess you are write, 20 cores is not good enough to run a grid this size 601x401x30. I am doing as you said, running the exact and the random methods for the 2D variables only to get some insight of my case. Thanks for the hint. One last question ... Do you ...

Re: Question about FLAGS to introduce river sources

Thank you very much Dr. Wilkin. I was mistakenly thinking that UV was a source of momentum, which was added in the momentum equations, while Q was a source of mass introduced in the continuity equation. The name UV_PSOURCE is confusing, it leads us to think that it is a SOURCE, but it is not since ...

Question about FLAGS to introduce river sources

Dear all, Does anybody knows what is the difference between the flags Q_PSOURCE and UV_PSOURCE that we use to make rivers in ROMS ? I am running a few experiments with the Amazon River. Because the Amazon discharge is so large, I had to introduce 1000 sources, so the amount in each source is small ...
