Re: WET_DRY and NESTING (refined) possible bug

Thanks Hernan. I would certainly very welcome this issue addressed in due time in the future. In the meantime I would have few further questions: 1) I can see that wetting drying is accounted for in the contacts region. I suppose then that the 1-way refined grid application should work fine? 2) I am ...

WET_DRY and NESTING (refined) possible bug

I have been working over the past few months on the development of a refined model application that includes the intertidal zones. I have recently updated to svn 741 and I have a question as follows: Is wetting-drying meant to be working in a nested refined 2-way grids application? I can see that ...

Re: initial-nest

Based on my tests with the refined grids you need to specify rivers in both parent and child grids. That is, the model runs when I set the river in the child grid only, but the parent solution is without the river plume. My impression was that the child's solution is interpolated onto the parent's ...

CPU time and MPI issues with nested grids

We have developed a nested (refined by a factor of 3) grid application within our existing operational model of the west coast of Ireland. The grid sizes are as follows: Parent : 638 x 438 x 20 Child: 198 x 249 x 20 However, there is a very significant computational overhead as well as the MPI ...

Re: Potential bug in ROMS perfect restart

I had the same issue upon restarting (either PERFECT_RESTART or not). I am not using WET_DRY. In my case the solution was bit unstable around the rivers. I am using LMD mixing and in my case it was LMD_DDMIX and LMD_SHAPIRO that were causing issues. My full LMD set up that currently works is this ...

Re: BIO_SEDIMENT time delay of remineralisation

I am not sure if you are referring to the uppermost 4 plots when saying that the model performs nicely, but the temperature there drops by 10 degrees in just 1200 time steps. Are you sure it is correct? Why don't you make 2D plots/animations to see the evolution of temperature over the whole model ...

Re: BIO_SEDIMENT time delay of remineralisation

I would sort out the temperature first before modelling biology. Check what you have in the boundary file and met forcing files (do you use bulk formulae?)

Re: BIO_SEDIMENT time delay of remineralisation

Hi tony1230, You have run out of NO3 also. What happens when you significantly increase detritus remineralization rates and decrease settling velocities for phytoplankton, small and large detritus to retain more nutrients in the water column? Is it the surface layer you are showing on the plots ...

Denitrification in Fennel model

Hi, When switching off DENITRIFICATION in the Fennel model and leaving the DIAGNOSTICS_BIO switched on, the model crashes with not a very informative 'Segmentation fault...' error message. It works fine when DIAGNOSTICS_BIO is also switched off. Does anyone know what causes the problem? I did not ...
