Re: Correct CPP options to use ANA_WWAVE?
Hi Aryan, Can you please clarify if you are using ROMS or COAWST? If former, I am not sure if ANA_WWAVE is completely tested to be able to provide one-way wave-current interaction. If you are using COAWST then you can provide an input forcing file with your choice of wave input. In this case you ...

Re: ran_state compilation error in ROMS
Hi Kate Thanks for getting back to me. I reverted ran_state.F to svn version 842, and now the code compiles, and I can run upwelling example. However, I do get a warning saying: ran1.f90(47): warning #6046: The INTEGER(KIND=2) value is out-of-range. [2147483579] IF (rans.lt.0) rans=rans+2147483579 ...

Re: Problems with tidal input for a surf zone application
Hello Kate As suggested, I added a print command in mod_netcdf.F. After recompiling and executing the code, I get following error: NLM: GET_STATE - Read state initial conditions, t = 0 00:00:00 (File: mbcamelot_init1_06112010.nc, Rec=0001, Index=1) - free-surface (Min = 0.00000000E+00 Max = 0 ...

Hi Kate Thanks for the reply. I did update to latest ROMS(v470) and tried to do a simulation. The error I get in that case is: Maximum barotropic Courant Number = 1.29657294E+00 Maximum Coriolis Courant Number = 7.29000000E-04 NLM: GET_STATE - Read state initial conditions, t = 0 00:00:00 (File ...

Problems with tidal input for a surf zone application
Hello Everybody I am using a coupled ROMS_SWAN application for surf zone. ROMS Version 240 I know this is an older version and latest svn update is around 470. But the reason to use this version is to compare my model results to a set of older model results from ROMS (Version 240) Domain Description ...

Problems after updating to latest version of ROMS
Hello Everybody I am using ROMS with SWAN for a surf zone application and I had been using ROMS Revision (240). Re: Regarding Tidal Input
Kate Thanks for the description of the usage of ZCLIMATOLOGY. I am doing a full 3D simulation and after reading your reply it doesn't make sense to not use ZCLIMATOLOGY and use some other approach. From the previous methods of using SSH_TIDES, ROMS Tides are neither too big or too small. I have a ...

Re: Regarding Tidal Input
Kate Thanks a lot for the reply. I don't plan to nudge to my climatology. I defined "ZCLIMATOLOGY" as cppdefs.h option in my *.h file. I also created an input netcdf file which provides 'zeta_time' and 'zeta' information to ROMS. The model runs smoothly and seems to take information from the file ...

Re: Creating TPAR input file for ROMS-SWAN coupled system
Hello John I am sorry for asking question related to SWAN on ROMS forum. But the reason for doing that was, I have already done simulations using TPAR file as input for SWAN only and it worked correctly. Problem occurred when I coupled the models. So, I thought maybe the problem occurs because of ...

Creating TPAR input file for ROMS-SWAN coupled system
Hello Everybody I want to use a 'TPAR file' to input wave parameters at one of the boundaries of my ROMS-SWAN coupled system. I tried to define the input file in a standard way (as done in SWAN Model). The ROMS model starts computation, but at the time of coupling the SWAN model doesn't seem to ...

Re: Problem with ROMS-SWAN Coupling
John I found the error . There was a mismatch between the grid dimensions for ROMS and SWAN grid ( ). When I change the SWAN grid input file, the model works fine other than blowing up after 10 steps ( ). I think I will play around a bit with the boundary conditions etc. to solve the ...

Let me get back to you after working on it for a while. Thank you for looking into the problem Nirnimesh

(a) Using a zero amplitude sine wave at my eastern boundary keeps the model stable. Even if I increase the amplitude to 0.55 ...

Re: Regarding tidal forcing in nearshore
Hello Everybody
Defining RAMP_TIDES as cppdefs.h option, does make the model stable. I am still running the model so will comment on the result after the finish of model run.
Thanks

Hello Everybody I am using ROMS (version 3.1, Last Changed Revision -236) coupled with SWAN to measure longshore currents in the surf zone.
