I dowloaded that forcing package (by H. Arango) from

but we could not compile it for my PC under linux (I asked for help to the system administrator) , it is maybe a problem with the architecture .

There I found a condition telling that if Fcycle is greater than zero then define length cycle attribute for that variable.....

What is Fcycle ? It is a user switch ? or a data of the input file ?

I built my input NetCDF files adapting ROMSTOOLS Matlab scripters Make_QSCAT_daily.m, Make_OGCM.m, and all the associated.

I solved the problem of reading my initial condition input file changing the "scrum_time" name to "ocean_time ...

Yes, I have confirmed that in the header file "globaldefs.h" there are several options conditioning the compiling of the model.

I solved the problem defining ANALYTICAL in my ROMS header file after I checked that analytical.F (in ROMS/Functional) have that condition to include header files ana_hmixcoef.h and ana_nudgcoef.h

Someone could tell me if that is correct or if there is another solution ?

I was looking at some files of the source code of ROMS 3.0....and there is a definition called INI_FILE (in initial.F) that calls the routine get_state.F used to read initial conditions of NetCDF files.....Also I found the definition with name FRC_FILE that is not used but there is a comment ...

I was running make to compile ROMS 3.0 and each time I defined SPONGE option and / or ZCLM_NUDGING, M2CLM_NUDGING, M3CLM_NUDGING, TCLM_NUDGING options the compilation was aborted indicating an ERROR 1.

If I have defined SPONGE the message specified something like.

... in function 'initial ...

It would be very nice to go there specially if the training were oriented to ocean-atmosphere coupling because I am working with a meteorologist staff. In that case, I suppose one week would be a short time, I would prefer a more intensive training of two or more weeks and/or a visit for work ...

In realistic simulations using Roms 3.0, the starting date (of the simulation) may be not necessarily the same in the input NetCDF forcing and initial files, because the frequency and starting date of each original data base are not necessarily the same.

Really I have thought in three different domains of interest:

1. a first of 2000 km x 1000 km (resolution ~ 20 km)
2. a second of 400 km x 400 km (resolution ~ 5 km)
3. a third of smaller with resolution ~ 1 km

to get a ocean picture in regional and meso scales, and then to decide for ...

I have compiled the ROMS using the make tool (with the correct compiler definitions and paths) in the roms-2.2 directory. Then I typed (in the command line) the executable file (oceanS).
